Viksit Bharat @ 2047: The Exigency of A Collaborative Effort
Minister
of Finance and Corporate Affairs, Smt. Nirmala Sitharaman, while presenting the
interim budget said that government’s vision for ‘Viksit Bharat’ is that of a
“prosperous Bharat in harmony with nature, with modern infrastructure, and
providing opportunities for all citizens and all regions to reach their
potential”. Viksit Bharat @ 2047 is a vision and a roadmap of the current
government that is the outcome of intensive preparation and hard work which has
inclusive approach and involves all miniseries, state governments, academia,
civil societies, scientific organizations, industries and youth of India for achieving
the vision. Why 2047? The answer is that in 1947 we got independence from
British rule and in 2047 we will be completing 100 years, so Prime Minister has
this action plan of ‘Viksit Bharat @ 2047’ to transform India into a developed
country. This vision include the areas such as economic growth, sustainable
development, ease of living, ease of doing business, development of
infrastructure and social welfare. In short if we say that this vision
encompasses four facets of development EESG,
which stands for Economic Growth,
Environmental Sustainability, Social Progress and Good Governance.
In terms of economic growth, a prosperous Bharat should have a strong economy
that can provide earning opportunities and a high standard of living to all the
citizens. Our economy should be able to handle the challenges of the 21st
century and we should also be able to provide the environment where entrepreneurship,
innovation and competitiveness can flourish. Environment sustainability aims for a clean and green environment
to preserve India’s rich biodiversity
and natural resources also we should be ready to mitigate the impacts of
climate change and take measures how to minimize the future threats related to
environment. For social progress
India should have a harmonious and an inclusive society to ensure the dignity
and well being of our citizens. Society should be able to celebrate and respect
India’s tradition, values, culture and rich heritage so that we can ensure
justice, equality and diversity in our country. Good governance is also the important facet of ‘Viksit Bharat @
2047’, for which we need agile governance with precise policies and accountability.
Governance is a system that collects credible data, analyze areas and act
promptly and swiftly to improve the conditions of the country.
India is a multicultural country and also has
surpasses all other countries in terms of population, and sometimes the
population and diversity are considered as obstacle for the growth and
development but we should take these two points as powerful weapons. The trinity of “demography,
democracy and diversity” which should be backed by ‘Sabka Prayas’, as it has
the potential to fulfill aspirations of every Indian. For achieving that dream
we need to do some unprecedented development by a collaborative effort.
Government has prepared its action plan but we as citizens of India should also
have our action plan to turn out this dream into reality. In whatever field we
are, we should contribute in the economic
growth of our country in terms of remittance that we earn in abroad because
not only we are number one in youth population but also we have skilled and
knowledgeable persons in our country who go to other country as doctors,
engineers, scientists, traders, technicians, educationists etc., so the youth
population should get more training and skills so that can contribute in
economic growth of our country. The other way to contribute in economy is to
come up with innovative and relevant ideas that will create the environment for
the startups, in this the half of the Indian population that is women, can play
a pivotal role. Educated women in urban areas who are unemployed may do some
work from home in their field of interest and women in rural areas they may
take advantage of government’s various schemes for their start-ups like Mudra
Yojana, Stand-Up India Scheme, Mahila Coir Yojana etc. so in these ways we may convert ‘India as a Big Hub of Human Resources’. We
need a collaborative effort for
environmental sustainability so that we can preserve our rich biodiversity
and cultural diversity. We can inculcate the habits of responsible consumption and production as SDG 12 suggests us; we should adopt the practices that are
eco-friendly, human friendly as well as animal and wild life friendly. If we
talk about social progress our role
as citizens is more crucial than the government because as a person we can
promote equality, dignity, respect for others through our behavior and actions
as well as celebrate and respect India’s tradition, values, culture and rich
heritage and take pride in our belief which is mentioned in Maha Upnishad,
which remains relevant as it emphasizes on a global perspective:
“Ayam
bandurayam neti ganana laghuchetasam,
Udaracharitanam
tu vasudhaiva kutumbakam”
(Who discriminate
‘This one is a friend and that one a stranger’ are the people with petty minds;
people with evolved consciousness embrace the entire world as their own
family.)
